Q&A with BWI Fast Park & Relax -- Shirley Helinski
Shirley has been a staple at Partnership Breakfasts since Fast Park & Relax joined in 2008 --
and a proud contributor to the monthly raffle, offering lucky winners
a week of free parking at one of the two BWI FastPark locations!

1. What is the company's role within the BWI region?
Fast Park provides Corporate parking programs for Business travelers and leisure travelers. With a record 25.1 million passengers traveling through BWI last year, and the airport being the busiest, by passenger count, of the three major airports serving the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area in the United States, there are a lot of travelers to accommodate!

2. What is your role within the company?
I handle Business Development; establishing Corporate parking programs with reports outlining both usage and company savings.
3.What is
something most people do not realize about the company?
Our shuttles also drop off at the Amtrak stations -- simply notify the cashier upon entrance and call on your return.
Sometimes it's the little things that make a day great. That's why Fast Park provides complimentary newspapers for our weekday warriors with early-morning flights. And, all of our guests enjoy a complimentary, cold bottle of water each and every time you exit.

Many people do not know that Fast Park employees can help with flat tires, battery jumps, snow removal and more. And, if that doesn't work, we'll help make sure you're able to reach someone to get serious repairs taken care of. Together, we'll find a solution to get you home before you know it.
4. How large is the company?
Fast Park is one of the largest airport parking owners/operators in the United States. We have 16 facilities located located in: Albuquerque, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore-BWI (two facilities), Cincinnati-CVG, Cleveland (two facilities), Houston-IAH, Houston-Hobby, Indianapolis, Memphis, Milwaukee, Orlando, Raleigh and Tucson.
5.. What is one piece of advice you can give, based on your insight into your industry and the problems you solve for your clients?
As the BWI Airport continues to grow and flight traffic increases, our traffic patterns also increase, especially during peak travel seasons. We highly recommend reservations to gain access to the Fast Park facilities during peak travel seasons including major holidays.

6. What do you get the most out of being a Partnership member?

I love the speakers, networking, and forming relationships!

Since 1999, this non-profit has accepted donated cars, reconditioned them and awarded 5,400 of them to low-income working families at low-interest loan rates. 75% of recipients have been able to access substantially better-paying jobs in the first year and their children have been able to participate in after-school enrichment activities they otherwise couldn't. Because the recipients are low-income, car donors can deduct Kelly Blue Book value of their donations on their taxes, considerably higher than other car donation charities. Vehicles for Change also trains low-income individuals as auto mechanics and operates Full Circle Service Center, providing vehicle inspections, detailing, car repairs and maintenance services to the public and they sell used cars to the public - all out of their facility in Halethorpe.
DID YOU KNOW?? Some FUN FACTS about Vehicles for Change!
1. From our headquarters, we also operate Freedom Wheels, a retail used-car lot that is open to the public. Donated vehicles (such as luxury models) that are not suitable to be awarded to a family are repaired and sold through this used car lot. These car sales help us fund our operations. View Freedom Wheel's inventory.

2. The VFC Center for Automotive Careers, is a training program with two components: auto detailing and automotive repair. Donated cars are detailed by our own CAC students before they are awarded to families or sold!
3. You can now support our program through our Full Circle Service Center - we offer automotive detailing and repairs to the public.
